ABOUT THE BAND - Cage9 are two years and a long way from their native, tropical, 3rd world home of Panama City, Panama...but you'd never know it. The now Los Angeles, CA based, "polished and experienced three-piece combines hard rock, alternative & pop into a dynamic, undeniably catchy hybrid" says Kings of A&R. Swimming in the categories of Dredg, Foo Fighters, Cave In and A Perfect Circle, this act is a cultural anomaly that takes the format for a spin that'll leave you comfortably dazed and asking: "Why the hell haven't I heard this before?"

Cage9 has gigged with Cheap Trick, Seether, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Smile Empty Soul, Abloom, Authority Zero, Spineshank, James Iha, and toured everywhere from Europe to the East Coast to Costa Rica where Evan and Pipo played their first flawless hour set together in '99 - while having never even met before. Recently signed with BMG Music Publishing, the trio has songs featured on the new FX show "The Shield" and on ESPN/Japan. "Li'l Doggies" was a #1 most requested song on Panama's rock stations and "Remember December" was #2 in the pop/rock category of Garageband.com's reviewer's picks. Cage9 was mentioned in Billboard Magazine for winning Best Alternative Band, Best Male Vocalist and Best Video in 2003's Panamarock Awards and was the 2003 #1 Ultimate Streetfight Champion on Streetwise's online fan competition, beating out hundreds of other bands. In '03 & '04, Ecko Unlimited sponsored Cage9 for two tours to Panama where they headlined two near-sold out 1,000 plus shows and continued to garner a strong radio presence. After "Sick of It!" has become a radio staple in Colombia, there's even reports of cover bands playing it!

Songs from their new release titled "the Onyx Inch e.p." have caused commotion on the internet on such sites as PopBang Radio where "Planet Me" has been consistently one of the most listened to tracks. Also receiving many accolades in print, March's Rolling Stone Magazine (Latin America) gave the CD a raving 3.5 star review. The live video of "Sick of It!" was the #1 download on Panamarock.com which topped 3 million visitors that month. On their home-turf, they've independently released three other CDs, selling thousands of copies domestically and elsewhere.

The band’s dynamic thrives on the band’s cultural mix. Evan grew up speaking mostly English in the 10 by 50 mile strip of land known as the Canal Zone, while cousins Gustavo and Pipo grew up a few miles away in the heart of old Panama City. Now living and jamming together in a rented downtown L.A./Echo Park apartment, the three easy-going guys in their mid-twenties relate verbally in a rough mix of English and Spanish-slang but musically, they deftly-maneuver from the subtle pop grooves in “Sick of It!” to the staccato-melodic-overdrive of “Static Fight” like a well-oiled machine. Of their intense live incarnation, L.A.'s Skinnie Magazine says that Cage9 "have personality and stage presence unlike any local band I've seen." "We know how each other THINKS musically," observes Pipo (who's been jamming with his cousin Gustavo since early childhood), "and that really comes across in the songwriting and the tightness of the live show."

Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Evan Rodaniche is a sound-scaper and recording guru in his own right. He has produced and recorded "a million and one punk bands" including Grammy-nominated Los Rabanes and yes, all of Cage9's repertoire. But it's his Incubus meets Metallica vocals and alt-rawk guitar grit that balance the band's fresh dynamics. Cousins Gustavo Aued and Ivan "Pipo" Canton rattle the bass and drum Richter scale by melding their well-versed progressive influences in the bands mid and lo end.

From headlining surf competitions under starry, tropical dry-season nights for hundreds of sun-beat local surf-rawkers to throwing down for 300 L.A. fans at the House of Blues on the legendary Sunset Strip, the guys are realizing their musical dreams of bringing their band from the proverbial small pond of Central America to the big cities of the U.S. Southwest. "We've been seeing these guys stencils ALL OVER the streets of L.A...these guys are definitely in it to win it" says Streetwise.com. Recognized by many noteable locals, such as Dino Cazares, as one of the "hardest working bands in town," this band is the real deal. Kludge Magazine says “Cage9’s work model is one that should be taken by many other bands;…they have steadily cultivated a fan base based on tremendous hard work and dedication, not only to bringing new people to shows, but also to refining their songs, constantly growing and evolving.”

What's in store for the future? "Learning to enjoy the ride," states Evan. "Over the past two years, there's been times where we've had to become Beauty and the Beast, balancing art with the sometimes ugly business side of music, as reflected in songs like Sick of It!. Now we're one or the other but never both. We plan a tour, make the calls, then go out and RAWK!" Expect Cage9 to continue to rawk their growing fanbase and street teams across the states the only way they know how - out of the back of their Astro Van. Coming to a venue near you in 2005!
