ABOUT THE BAND - Original line-up established: 2000
Current line-up: 2003
Out of the "drink beer and play music" sessions, a group of four with their diverse musical backgrounds brought songs to a retired second floor radio station in downtown Missoula, Montana. Ryan tossed in the name "Viscosity Breakdown" and the group made some debut appearances at the infamous "Jay's Upstairs" (THE "original music" venue in Missoula).
As Viscosity Breakdown prepared to record their first album, Ryan decided to pursue other life goals. Frank, Devin, and Dave made an effort to capture the original Viscosity Breakdown sound and recorded the tracks for "Outta-Site" during the Spring of 2003.
After the CD release of "Outta-Site" (run8records) in September 2003, the band began to work out some exciting new songs as a rock trio.
By early 2004, Viscosity Breakdown had written new tunes with a redefined sound and unleashed them upon the Montana rock scene. The band recorded three singles for radio and the Internet: "Residential" "No Nonsense" and "Diesel". They revamped some of the old tunes and prepared to rock the venues.
Among the rounds of rock shows, they welcomed two new venues to the scene: "Jester's Bar" in Helena and "The Other Side" in Missoula.
Viscosity Breakdown made their debut at the weekly summer "Out to Lunch" music and food festival in Missoula's Caras Park along the Clark Fork River.
In August, Viscosity Breakdown hung out at the "Ear Infection End of Summer Music Festival" in Helena. So many great Montana bands rocked "The Quarry" outdoor amphitheater and "Jester's Bar" during a three-day weekend extravaganza. It was an exciting realization of the newly established edge of the upcoming Montana rock scene.
