ABOUT THE BAND - This 5 member band began with seasoned veterans Randy Bodnar (guitarist) and Mark Henry (bassist) one night at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale. Randy and Mark were with a funky band of lawyers called ToadHouse and frequently played at Martini Ranch filling the 7pm-9pm time slot with a house full of TH friends and fans. One special night in July, TH's lead singer couldn't do the gig and a band member suggested they not cancel but have Darla Russell fill the slot just for the night. She accepted the challenge and was a huge success. So much so that Mark and Randy called her to put together a new band. With the addition of Randy's son, Corey, a budding guitarist, Paul Pickering on guitars and keyboards and Ron Foltz on the drums, Slightly Right continues to popularize that they call "rocked up country music".
SR started out playing cover tunes at their "home-away-from-home"-- The Loft Again and soon realized that it was time to take the band to a new level by working up original material. With all the positive feedback from their live original performances, the band headed to Uranus Studios in Tempe, AZ and produced the band's virgin EP with 5 original songs and a kicking rocked up version of the Bonnie Raitt tune, "Angel from Montgomery". They have a knack for taking an old classic country song and molding them into upbeat, fun country-touched hits. Randy and Darla are both soulful writers and write about what they know---life. Tattered, torn, frayed, seductive and sweet lyrics mixed with country-twisted rock define the band's sound. Add in youthful guitar, intricate bass lines, solid percussion and you have the sound of Slightly Right. All members of the band bring a level of energy and emotion to each show so it's not hard to see that they are happy and there to have fun.
