ABOUT THE BAND - Turner Core, born Fall 2002 when Mark Guthrie started the Dimension Project. Mark called up Rich Hermsen III telling him about his ideas and what he intended to do. From the moment on, the duo would be known as Turner Core with Rich on drums and Mark playing guitar and singing. At the time, Rich was going to Western Washington University and Mark was a Senior at Eatonville High School. Mark spent several days in the studio laying down ideas for songs. Mark mailed "Let Down," "Don't Go," "American Crunch," and "MOCBITS" to Rich a few weeks later, and Rich fell in love. The duo decided that it was time to form a full band. They decided to call in Tom Mitchell to the band. Tom was one of Mark's closest friends. Tom knew he was right to play bass for TC ever since he heard the first demo. Turner Core was now a full band.
In the Spring of 2003, Turner Core had 17 full songs written and 12 recorded. They expected the album to be released in August. The entire TC catalog consisted of: Let Down, Don't Go, MOCBITS (Miscommuncation of Confusion Between the Sexes), American Crunch, Nectared, Inner Vision, Weighed Down, Me Again, The Dark, I Say, Collapse, Alpha ID, Crush It, I Need The Sun, Dimension, Pretend, and Faultline (aka Faultbreaker). Only eleven of those songs made the final cut for Dimension. On July 7th, 2003, Project Dimension was complete, and it was sent off into post-production/mastering that week. The band had been practicing for awhile, but something was missing. TC didn't have the power that they needed to reinforce their music. The guys decided to add a 2nd guitarist. Mark knew a guy named Cedar Compher. At the time, Cedar was in a band called Catalyst. Luckily for Turner Core (unluckily for Catalyst), Catalyst had just broken up. Cedar had an open invite to TC. Now Turner Core was a complete band with a nice full sound.
