Using the dense compositional style of progressive rock and roll and the improvisational quality of jam-band greats, Oliver, Russ, Sean and Joe create a unique listening experience.

ABOUT THE BAND - In the fall of 2002, Oliver Thompson met Sean Vinci. Discovering that Sean had aspirations of building a home studio and that Oliver needed a studio to record in, created what would become a perfect match. Sean had just moved to Michigan from New York and didn’t have a car. Over the next few months Oliver drove Sean to local music stores to slowly purchase his studio piece by piece. More and more equipment was purchased and more and more hours were spent in the basement until finally after almost two years, they had an album. A band was needed. It was clear that Sean would be the drummer, and Oliver the guitarist. But who would fill in the cracks? First Oliver enlisted the backbone of his first band, Mr. Benjamin Buller to play the bass. While in search of a keyboardist Oliver received a voicemail that would make history. It was from Russell Gillespie, and it was simple: “I’ve listened to your CD four times, when are we gonna start a rock band?” In a Rock and Roll setting Russ considered himself primarily a guitar player, but through the cracks in the doors of Oakland University’s practice rooms Oliver had heard Russ wail on the piano. He knew their was a budding keyboardist waiting to be summoned out of him, and Oliver would be that summoner. They talked, they agreed. Half keyboard, half guitar, primary vocalist. Easy. Moving on… Rehearsals began and three shows were played before Ben left his duties as bass player to pursue a career in mud wrestling. Their was only one likely replacement... Joseph Augugliaro. With Joe at the core, The People were complete. Four determined, hard-working, focused, and altogether wholesome individuals aspiring to make great music. They compose, they improvise, but most importantly they play music… in JEANS!
