This high school pop-punk band from Bellevue, Nebraska has taken a big reputation around Bellevue. Rocking millions upon billions of faces each show. They're well worth the time to see...and hear.
ABOUT THE BAND - When Avril Lavigne sang ‘Skater Boi’ these are the young men she had in mind.
Take a big pot. Add one part Green Day, one part Blink . Mix in a dash of Weezer and sprinkle with Nirvana. That would give you nifty250. They have all the feel good hooks and up-tempo lyrics, without the angst, and super-sugary sweet pop. These young men from (Rolling Stone crowned) indie-music rock capital Omaha (home of 311) have brought forth the skater music to the masses. And lest you think that they are mere posers to the genre, check this out; the guys actually do skate. Unlike the Beach Boys, where only Dennis was a surfer, all three shred, ollie and flip with the best of them. ( Mrs. Z is nice. -Jerad)
The members are:
Micah Scott Holdaway
March 9,1989
Drums, Background vocals, music
Erik Leighton Trent
November 22, 1988
Bass, background vocals, music
Jerad Colton Tomasino
September 25,1988
Guitar, Lead vocals, lyrics and music
Jerad and Micah met in school, and Erik was brought in through a mutual friend. After jamming for a while, it was decided to try out for the Offutt Air Force Base talent show. Along with Alex Woodard, a pre-nifty250 took first place in the Group/Musical Instruments category with a cover of Green Day’s “Brain Stew. The manager of the base theater caught their act and asked if they were interested in playing a concert in conjunction with the Jack Black film, “School of Rock.” This left the young men with 6 weeks to put together a set, and they pulled it off admirably, playing to a crowd of dozens of friends, movie-goers, and family members
That appearance was just the kick off for the band. Following soon thereafter was a return engagement at the Base Theater for New Year’s Eve, and a gig at Rebel’s for Valentine’s Day. That was soon followed by a paying show at The Rock and that led to the band being asked back for a follow-up show the next month. This trio of high-school boys has been breaking attendance records every time they play at the venue. As of the last show they hit the 90 people mark and sold dozens of their EP's. Ninety may not seem like a significant number, however, the only other bands to top that are nationally recognized touring ones. For these boys from Bellevue East and Bellevue West, they have achieved an admirable goal. The level of musicianship, the originality of the tunes, and the charismatic interaction with the audience is amazing.
nifty250 has been hard at work, perfecting their craft, working on more new songs, and making fans in every venue.
